POVERTY AND THE SOCIAL INEQUALITY

Hello, again, today I would like to share another things with you guys which is the poverty and it inequality. I know some people may not know what the definition of poverty.

We can said that the people is in poverty when they received a low of income or any other basic  resources that needed to be obtained the, such as the shelter, food and other conditions of life like the diets, material goods, amenities, standards and services. However, the poverty cannot be only based on the line of low income as it is not enough to describe poverty as a condition applying to those whose were receiving the low income compared to that of others.

They also have refocused the concept of poverty as a human condition that reflects to fulfill in many dimensions of human life, such as hunger, unemployment, homelessness, illness and health care, powerlessness and social injustice. Broadly speaking that they all add up to an assault on human dignity. So, in order to eradicate the poverty, it is not only require in economic growth and redistribution but also in many areas, such as expanding the education or removing discrimination.

For example, the lack of education often reflects the condition of a poor person but it is also an obstacle to other important aspects of a person’s well being, such as employment and income, good health and health care and other basic amenities such as clean water and sanitation. These are also interrelated with discrimination and lack of access to justice. Poverty incidence may fall while the number of poor people grows. Most poverty measures show a decrease when the mortality among poor people is higher than that of the rest.

The social inequality are usually refers to the unequal distribution of the resources such as power, wealth and income. It is also include the opportunities (related, for example, to health, education and employment) Social class, gender, ethnicity and age are all sources of inequality.

According to HRADIL (2001) “Social inequality exists when people frequently receive more of a society’s ‘valuable goods’ than others owing to their position in the social network of relationships.”

This definition is refer to that the differences in eye color, body height, physical handicap, cannot be called as a social differences or social inequality because they are not the result of a social process.

The social inequality can be divided into two modes which are direct and indirect. Direct social inequality occurs when they had an unfair treatment of a group and it can be present in both community or government capacities.  In the other hand, Indirect Social Inequality occurs when unfair treatment of a group is not the explicit purpose of a policy or action, but still results in social inequality.
